Rental Bedroom to Hotel Suite With Zero Drilling

Posted

This was a standard rental bedroom: about 11 by 12 feet, white walls, beige laminate, a mattress on the floor and one bare bulb. The lease said no drilling and no paint, so every change in this concept makeover had to come out without a mark. The plan starts with the bed. A low wood frame lifts the mattress, and a freestanding upholstered headboard, 55 to 60 inches tall, bolts to the frame instead of the wall. A warm 2700K LED strip on the back of the headboard gives the evening glow. Layered white bedding, sand euro shams and an olive throw do the rest. Lighting moves to eye level with plug-in brass sconces on removable mounting strips, and the cold ceiling bulb becomes a warm one. Linen-look curtains hang high and wide on no-drill brackets, and an 8 by 10 jute and wool rug anchors the bed. The estimated total is about $1,555 at 2026 US prices, or about $660 with cheaper options, and almost everything goes with you when you move.
